Girls Growing Strong

Girl Scouts of the USA is the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls—all girls—where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.

Girl Scout Promise

On my honor, I will try:
to serve God and my country,
to help people at all times,
and to live by the Girl Scout law

How it all began...

I called Girl Scouts to see when my older daughter, a preschooler at the time can start her girl scout adventure. They told me they had a pilot program for preschoolers, but there are no leaders. So, I accepted the challenge of building a troop, so my daughter can become a girl scout. I roped my new-found friend, Camie into assisting the troop. Together we led the girls for 2 fun and exciting years. Before the 3rd year began, I met a parent at school named Jennifer. She was contemplating starting her own troop, but not convinced she wanted to do it alone. Camie and I conversed, and decided we can pull our resources together to make one FANTASTIC troop with 3 leaders! So, we did! Heading into our 5th year together, I am hooked! I have witnessed our girls change and grow from young observers to girls that make things happen! With Camie's lead, our girls led their 1st event for the Daisies, and it was a blast. We have created quite a bond with these young girls, and it thrills me to see them around town and at school, smiling and going out of their way to say "hi!" As we enter our 5th year, and the 1st year of our younger girls (Abbey and Kylee) being girl scouts, we are more excited than ever!

Songs

"Make New Friends"
Make new friends, but keep the old
one is silver and the other is gold.
Like a circle that has no end,
Girl Scout sisters, will always be friends!

"Once a Girl Scout went to camp"
Once a girl scout went to camp, went to camp.
Went to camp without her lamp, without her lamp.
When she saw a spider in her bed, this is what the Girl Scout said, Girl Scout said.
"Spider, spider go away, go away! You are not allowed to stay, allowed to stay!
This is what my leader said, no two bodies in one bed, in one bed!"
Once a boy scout went to camp, went to camp.
Went to camp without his lamp, without his lamp.
When he saw a spider in his bed, this is what the boy scout said, boy scout said.
"AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!"
